trying to understand the application process for your medicine degree?
You’re almost there! The HSC will be over soon, and the only thing you’ll have left to worry about are the interviews to get you into Medicine. However, that’s probably the last thing you want to be worrying about post-HSC.
HOW MEDICINE INTERVIEWS WORK
As part of the process of gaining entry into Medical School, you will need to participate in at least one face to face interview. These interviews will vary subtly across all universities, however there are two main types of interview that you might face, and these interview types are used consistently by different universities:
- For universities such as UNSW, James Cook and others, you should expect to face a Semi-Structured Interview or “SSI”
- For universities such as CSU, WSU and Newcastle, you can expect to participate in a Multiple Mini Interviews, or “MMI”, style of interview
HOW ACE WILL HELP YOU PREPARE FOR THESE INTERVIEWS
Part 1. THE TEACHING COURSE
Our teaching course is 2 days long and is relevant to all students, regardless of the universities you are applying for. This component helps you prepare your responses for questions that are frequently asked in university interviews. We will also talk you through the types of questions assessed by different universities.
We have 3 streams available to choose from. Please note that you only need to attend one of the teaching streams:
Stream 1: 11th and 12th November from 9am to 3pm at our Parramatta Campus
Stream 2: 14th and 15th November from 9am to 3pm at our Parramatta Campus
Stream 3: 14th and 15th November from 9am to 3pm at our Epping Campus
Part 2. THE MOCK INTERVIEW COURSE
As mentioned above, there are two types of mock interviews. Both will simulate the university interview environment for you to practice your interview skills. You will rotate between multiple stations and interviewers, and then be provided with comprehensive feedback from all your interviewers on how to perform best in your interviews.
Multiple mini-interviews (MMIs)- CSU, WSU and University of Newcastle
Each 2.5 hours session features 12 interview stations, offering a range of face-to-face and online question styles, and will be conducted on-campus.
Dates: 13th, 21st and 22nd of November
We offer 3 sessions per day, with limited spots available per session.
Semi-Structured Interviews (SSIs)- UNSW and JCU
Students are able to select which university they would like to interview for. Select two sessions only if you would like to practise for UNSW AND JCU, i.e. you are unable to attend two sessions for the same university.
Dates: 28th November and 29th November
We offer 7 on-campus and 3 online sessions per day, with limited spots available per session.
